Construction Regulations from a Legal Perspective

Duration: 2 Day
Facilitator: Cecil Townsend Naude – Townsend Naude Attorneys

Overview

In South Africa, workplace safety in the construction industry is governed by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, No. 85 of 1993 (OHSA) and its Construction Regulations, 2014. These regulations place clear and demanding responsibilities on all stakeholders — including clients, contractors, designers, principal contractors, and construction managers — to prevent workplace accidents and ensure legal compliance.

This two-day workshop provides a detailed legal interpretation of the Construction Regulations and related sections of the OHSA. Delegates will gain a clear understanding of their statutory obligations and how to ensure compliance to avoid criminal liability.

Why Attend

This course empowers professionals to correctly interpret and apply the Construction Regulations, understand how legal responsibility shifts between role players, and take proactive steps to comply with OHSA requirements. Participants will leave with the knowledge needed to protect their organisation and themselves from legal exposure.
